Stuyvesant has a CATCH program. (Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Healthcare). This year the CATCH program will be offered once agaon child’s by the School Health nurse and a School Health doctor or nurse practitioner. The program will include reproductive health education, including information on sexually transmitted infection prevention. The program will also include reproductive health services: pregnancy testing (urine testing, no physical exam will be required), and hormonal contraception (birth control), including emergency contraception and condoms. Students must sign a form consenting to these reproductive health services before receiving them. All services are confidential and free of charge. (reach out to the school nurse on information for parental opt-out).
CATCH Social Work Director, Stacey Murphy (smurphy1@health.nyc.gov), can keep in touch with students that may be grieving, anxious or particularly stressed and connect them with additional resources.
If any student needs more information about CATCH services, please reach out to the health educator on the flyer Kathryn Louisaint at klouissaint@health.nyc.gov or regular nurses on site.
