BLESS Research Collective is recruiting - participate in a Research study on Education of COVID-19

The BLESS Research Collective is recruiting Black youth and families for a research study about The Education of Black Youth in NYC Amid COVID-19 and Beyond. This study is a collaboration between the New York City Department of Education and the State University of New York, Buffalo.

The impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) highlights familiar educational inequities in schools and outside of school contexts experienced by Black youth and their families. At the same time, COVID-19 has also revealed possibilities for education that are affirming for Black children in schools and outside of school contexts when we are forced to do things differently. We have also seen the existing power of Black families and Black youth workers in supporting Black youth’s education in new and old ways within schools and outside of school contexts.

The BLESS Research Collective is doing this research study to learn more about what education has, can and should look like for Black children, especially given what we have learned about education during COVID-19. The BLESS Research Collective is asking for volunteers to take part in this study who can speak to the educational experiences of Black children in NYC.
