Mr. Wrigley shares that the Calhoun School and Ross-Sutton Gallery are hosting a virtual art exhibition, opening February 26, 2021, in commemoration of Black History/Futures Month. Self-identified Black students in grades 6-12 are invited to submit original images of their work.
The theme of the show is students' interpretation of “joy” within contexts and communities where they feel at ease and welcomed to express themselves, embrace learning and experiment. The setting may be in school, at home, in the neighborhood, outdoors and beyond. The art can be representational or abstract but should keep to the theme of “centering joy.”
Participating artists will be invited to a conversation with a renowned curator, along with alumni and community partners in the field of contemporary art.
