ASPIRA and BSL Host Annual Black History Month Dinner on February 14th

On Thursday, February 14th, Stuyvesant High School together with Stuy ASPIRA and BSL (Black Students League) joined to celebrate history, unity and culture at their Annual Black History Month Dinner. Guest speakers included Stuyvesant Alumnus ’04, Mr. Andre Brown and Ms. Tai Abrams, CEO of Admission Squad, and author of the book Who Am I? An A-Z Career Guide for Teens. Special guests also were 30 middle school students and their families from the Dock Street School for STEAM Studies preparing for the SHSAT. We enjoyed hearing from Mr. Contreras, Mr. Colon and heard readings, performances and poetry from our students both moving and thought-provoking, ending in singing and an enjoyable meal. Special thanks to Mr. Angel Colon and all the members of ASPIRA and BSL for this wonderful event. (some photos contributed from Mr. Colon and credit: AA FB page) The month is not over, and we conclude this coming week with more special workshops.
