<p>For the past decade, as part of the <b>Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance initiative,</b> American Banker and Discover have been proud to present the <b>Young Women's Leadership Award,</b> a college scholarship given to graduating female high-school seniors who have demonstrated leadership qualities and are the first in their family to attend college. Each honoree receives $5,000 towards freshman-year tuition.</p><p>This year, we are particularly pleased to announce that we are doubling the number of our awards – usually given to two young women – to a total of four. The two additional awards are earmarked for Black female candidates specifically.</p><p><b>Applications will close on April 30th</b> and the selected recipients will be asked to do a two-minute acceptance speech, aired during the virtual program at the annual NEXT conference in May; the YWLA recipients will be hosted on May 19th and the YBWLA recipients will be hosted on May 20th.
