Alumni Association Celebrate their First Gala Honoring Nobel Laureate Richard Axel and Julie Sheinman

Last week, the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association hosted their Inaugural Benefit Gala at the Water Club. They honored 2004 Nobel Laureate, Dr. Richard Axel (Stuy ‘63) and Teacher Honoree, Ms. Julie Sheinman along with two other notable Stuy Alumni, Samantha Whitmore ’09 and Nzingha Prescod '10. Read their bios on the AA site. Principal Contreras gave the closing remarks to the evening’s festivities. Alumni across more than 50 years attended the event. Over $100,000 has already been raised. Trophies of the “Golden Pegleg” were designed by senior, Bill Ni and printed in our Innovation Lab. Students in 3d Graphic art classes along with Ms. Leslie Bernstein designed and printed the laser cut table place cards as well. See photos in the music and art section of this Update.  You can see more photos from Travis W. Keyes photography HERE.
