Adolescent Mental Health Town Hall, Thursday September 30

Adolescent Mental Health Town Hall, Thursday September 30

“Supporting Your Child’s Emotional Wellness: Adolescent Mental Health During COVID-19”

Register to attend a Virtual Town Hall sponsored by Senator Liz Krueger and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Thursday, September 30th 7pm – 8:30pm.

It’s September and children are returning to school, some after learning remotely for more than a year and half. Many students are excited to return to school and to see their friends, and some are anxious and concerned about their return.

Research is showing that COVID often impacts our emotional wellness. Learn about the impact of COVID on adolescent mental health, how to identify signs and symptoms of emotional distress, and how to support your child and use available resources to build emotional resilience.

The Virtual Town Hall will feature:

  • Eliot Goldman, PhD, Manager, Curriculum Development, and Susannah Sanchez-Agosto, Training specialist, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
  • A representative from the New York City Department of Education
  • Benjamin Morden, Community Education Council President,  District 2

The event will feature a question and answer session with the representatives from the New York City Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene and Education, and Benjamin Morden. If you have questions about how COVID is impacting your child’s mental wellness, identifying signs and symptoms of emotional distress, and how best to support your child with available resources, you should attend the September 30th Town Hall. Attendees will be able to submit questions through Zoom and Facebook during the event but are strongly encouraged to submit them in advance.

Please let us know if you plan to attend the Thursday, September 30th Virtual Town Hall by registering at https://tinyurl.com/covid-adolescent-mental-health. Once you register for the event, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom and Facebook links, and the call-in information.
