The 5th Annual Public School Film Festival is accepting submissions!
The Festival is open to all NYC middle and high school students. 20+ short films will be selected for the Festival by a panel of media professionals and educators.
Filmmakers of selected films will be invited to a special Screening Day and Career Development event tentatively scheduled for April 25, 2023. All applicants will be invited to special outdoor screenings as part of MOME’s “Movies Under the Stars” series with the NYC Parks Department, tentatively scheduled for May 2023.*
Submissions will be accepted between December 8, 2022 and March 7, 2023. Films will be selected and notification given by March 31, 2023.
Submitted films must be 5 min. or less, in .mp4 or .mov format. Films must use only original or public domain music. Applications must be submitted by an adult working with an NYC public school or program. Categories are:
No nudity, profanity or violent acts are permitted. Youth filmmakers must play the major creative role — as directors, writers, and/or editors. Teacher directed, produced or generated works will not be considered.
