2025 Cornell High School Programming Contest and Workshop

This school year, Cornell University will once again hold two in-person high school computing events for students who are learning computer programming:

  • The Women in Computing at Cornell (WICC) High School Programming Contest Workshop will be held on Sunday, February 9th on both the Ithaca and Cornell Tech NYC campuses. The workshop is designed to help students new to competition prepare for our April contest. The workshop is open to all, but intended to broaden participation to students from groups underrepresented in computing, including girls, Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students, and students with disabilities. We hope you will help get the word out.  WICC, Cornell, and Cornell Tech mentors will support students as they learn problem solving and competition strategies. Students do NOT have to be on teams to participate.
  • The Cornell High School Programming Contest will be held on Saturday, March 29th on both the Ithaca and Cornell Tech NYC campuses. This highly competitive contest has been held for over 10 years. Students compete on teams of 2-3. The Cornell HS Programming Contest generally includes 6-7 problems of varying difficulty (easy to very challenging)  to be solved in 3 hours. Competitors will sharpen not only their computer science problem solving skills, but their strategy and teamwork as well. Students may compete using Python, Java, C, or C++. If you have a student who is not on a team, encourage them to apply and we will place them on a team with another solo competitor.

Registration for both events is now open  Space is limited, and they will accept student teams as their applications arrive. Speak to your teacher about forming a team.
